Writing for Social Change

The power of words can inspire people to change the world. This blog serves to inspire writers to write for social change. The blog is based on the concept of using writing as a tool for social critique, as a means of calling for social change and justice, and as a tool for social transformation. The blog combines traditional methods of literary and cultural analysis with creative, personal writing, exploring  the ways writers impact communities, and examining the role of writers in addressing pressing social issues.

  1. Hello Ingrid,
I really like the photograph you posted, the one of the buttons. But I noticed that all the buttons in the picture are round. For real change to occur, don't we need to accept all shapes of buttons? Even rectangles and squares?

  5. Yes indeed Mrs. Kelly the points made about social change and social justice couldn't be further from the truth. I too believe in the power of words because they are about feelings, emotions, beliefs, and passions. The blog that you have posted is an example of the desire to stroke a fire in the belly of humankind, and get them to become just that, human. What happened to caring and sharing, showing compassion and a loving spirit. The few become mighty with the right word choices and combinations. Social statuses have long been an issue that goes unnoticed even though it's there glaring bright on the surface. I will enjoy posting blogs for this purpose. Smile because someone cares.

  6. I agree, since we have begun writing our own blogs, I’ve become more connected with the bloggers thoughts and purpose of their particular blog. I have notice that blogging is a very efficient and effective tool for individuals to express opinion, collect feedback and possible make changes or at least influence others to.

  7. Would like to hear more about changing the world with writing. Just heard about an organization called PEN www.pen.org, defends freedom of expression worldwide.

  8. Blogs and other forms or writing can sometime feel like a passive absorption of information, facts and ideas. How to get them to create "action" is the challenge.
